Horizon is taking a break and will be back in August!
That's right! Horizon will be pausing in June and July, and be back full of articles and great news in August! And before that time of the year, you will also be able to check and register for one of the Fall semester’s workshops (please note however that some workshops will be held in August). Also, before this semester begins, our team will greet all new professors to our Orientation Program for New Professors, a 3-day activity which aims to introduce them to the various services offered by the University of Ottawa.
During the summer, the TLSS team will also say goodbye to Yves Herry, who held the Associate Vice-President position for the last 8 years! Aline Germain-Rutherford has been appointed, and will begin her journey within our service as of July 1st. Please join us in thanking and wishing Yves well, and welcoming Aline!
Enjoy the summer, have a good deserved rest because we're looking forward to seeing you energized in August!

Make Your Job Easier by Using uoSyllabus Like Your Colleagues!
The academic year is fast approaching, and in every professor’s preparation routine, designing syllabi is a must do! Whether it is to modify or create them from scratch, they will need to spend time to develop them. After all, this document is, in some way, their game plan. In doing so, they provide valuable information to their students who are curious to know how their semester will unfold with them as their professor!
To make this task easier for professors, the TLSS designed uoSyllabus, an easy-to-use electronic tool, which allows them to create syllabi that meet students’ specific needs and that was built with the best practices in university teaching in mind. Check out this tool today!
LMS Renewal: Which LMS Will We Choose?
The TLSS is currently conducting an assessment exercise for the renewal of the learning management system, better known by its acronym LMS. As you know, the University is currently using Blackboard Learn and the contract between our institution to our supplier will expire May 31, 2017. To do this, I set up a consultation process to assess the needs of the university community. Want to make your voice heard, and find out more about the process? Visit our website and contact us!
