TLSS - Teaching and Learning Support Service

The former Blackboard
archive migration process
has changed

All Blackboard archives have been transferred into Brightspace and you can now copy archived content directly from the Virtual Campus (Brightspace).

Note: Your access to the Blackboard archive spaces transferred into Brightspace is read-only. You have the ability to copy and/or download the entire archive or part of your content. Once imported in the new course space, the content will be editable. Your archived content will remain available as per our usual archive calendar.

See below how to copy your archived content into a new course space

Step 1 - Finding your archives
  1. Connect to the Virtual Campus
  2. Click on the "Select a course" icon found on the top menu bar (Brightspace search icon).
  3. Type the course code you wish to locate in the search bar (ie. ABC1234)
    • Note: All former Blackboard archives start with "ArchiveFile_" in the title.
  4. Click on the archive file (ie. ArchiveFile_20169_PS123456_ABC1234)
    • Note: The term of the archive is identified by the 5 digit term code (ie. _20169_). Winter term courses end with a 1, spring/summer courses end with a 5 and fall courses end with a 9 (ie. 20161, 20165, 20169).
Step 2 - Getting Started
Step 3 – Copy content from an archived course
Step 4 – Review and update migrated course

FAQ - Troubleshooting Archived Content

My archive is empty, what can I do?

In some cases, the course menu may not have migrated because of tool incompatibility between systems or file corruption during the archiving process.    Your files will still be available in the ‘Manage Files’ administration tool  but will require to be added back to the content menu as topics once the content has been copied into your new course.

Accessing the "Manage Files" tool:

  1. From the main course menu, click on "Course Admin".
  2. Click on "Manage Files".
